      • This certificate allows you to apply for or operate under a UK PDRA01 Operational Authorisation from the CAA. An Application for PDRA01 Authorisation currently costs £500 payable directly to the CAA

      Important Information:

      Please be aware to undertake the GVC Refresher course the student must hold a valid GVC certificate which is within 6 months of expiration along with evidence confirming a minimum of 2 hours of flying currency within the last three months preceding the GVC renewal course. Currency can be demonstrated in both the Open and Specific category; however, it must be verifiable through an appropriate Flight Log (meeting current CAA standard) & screenshot of DJI app (if applicable).

      To join the GVC Refresher course the remote pilot must be able to provide:

      • Proof of identity
      • Official GVC qualification (must be within 6 months of expiration)
      • Valid CAA A1/A3 Flyer ID
      • Flight logs showing a minimum of 2 hours of currency within the last three months

      Why Should You Renew Your GVC?

      The GVC qualification is the certificate you need if you want to operate under a PDRA01 Operational Authorisation from the CAA to fly drones up to 25 kg in built-up areas safely and legally.

      What to expect  

      How does the refresher work?

      Once purchased you'll be asked to send in your Current GVC certificate (which must be within 6 months of expiration), valid A1/A3 Flyer ID & CAA compliant Flight log evidence showing a minimum of 2 hours of currency within the previous three months.

      Once verified you'll receive sign-in details to complete your GVC theory examination, this is conducted online, on-demand available 24/7 with our industry leading invigilation system.

      Essential Equipment Required for Examination

      • Stable Internet Connection with a minimum of 4Mbs download & 2Mbs upload speed

      How do Flight Assessments Work?

      The RP must demonstrate a minimum of 2 hours of currency within the last three months preceding the GVC renewal process. Currency can be demonstrated in both the Open and Specific category; however, it must be verifiable through appropriate Flight Log evidence that meets the CAA minimum requirement. If the students existing GVC is rated for both fixed wing and multirotor UAS, currency for each class must be demonstrated.

      Once purchased we will ask the student to submit their CAA compliant flight log alongside a screenshot of their DJI app (if applicable).

      If a student does not meet the minimum currency requirements or there is cause for doubt that the competency level cannot be demonstrated the student may be required to complete an on-site GVC Flight Test at one of our UK venues for an additional fee.

      FAQs

      Frequently Asked Questions about the GVC Course...

      Are there any resit fees if I fail the Theory Examination?

      GVC Refresher students must pass the latest theoretical knowledge assessment with a minimum pass mark of 80%. & are only entitled to one attempt. If the student fails the theory assessment they'll need to complete a full theoretical course of around 9 hours of on-demand video e-learning and attempt an additional theory assessment using a different final assessment paper for an additional fee.

      How many questions are there in the Theory Examination?

      There are a total of 40, multiple-choice questions in the GVC Theory Examination and you have 60 minutes to complete the examination.

      What is the Pass-Mark for the Theory Examination?

      The pass mark is 80% - the highest in the industry... We pride ourselves on this and the fact that UAVHub students are known for their 'better than average' understanding and knowledge.

      Flight Test Venue(s):

      If the student does not meet the minimum flying hour/currency they will need to complete an on-site flight assessment using their own drone for an additional fee. We have a number of locations available throughout the UK.

      Please be aware the flight test MUST be passed within 12 months of passing the theory examination.
